Desk Job or Dream Job?

How do you picture your life panning out? Will you be sitting in an office typing on a computer all day? Teaching children in a school? Saving lives in a hospital? This is something that every young adult goes through- deciding what they want out of life.
Like me, most people who want to work in the fashion industry are criticized for their decision. In fact, any similar careers such as beauty/make-up and artists face this discrimination. In an economy like today's, fashion can be looked at as nothing but a superficial job. A field that is too risky. "Why don't you become an accountant? Or a doctor? Something where a job is guaranteed?" These are the things that I hear everyday. When I was a freshman in high school, I was planning on being an accountant. I'm extremely good at math and you can make amazing pay right out of college. After a few years though, it occurred to me that I would be spending the rest of my life in front of a computer, at a desk. And that was not a fun thought.
(picture from here)

Throughout the past few years fashion has become such an important part of my life. I've learned to express myself through the clothes that I wear. I get to be creative and inspired everyday. I've come to a point in my life where I know that no matter what I end up doing after college, it will be creative, and it will not involve eight hour work days in a cubicle.
In the end, you have to love what you are doing. Even if I live in a tiny apartment eating Easy Mac for every meal, I can survive. It's a risk I'm willing to take. Is it a risk you're willing to take? Are you going to listen to everyone around you who is saying that you should take a "safe job?" Or will you follow your dreams? Make the life you want? You're in control of your future. That is the most important thing to remember.

"Are you running towards something you want? Or running away from something you're afraid to want?"

Loved this post, I agree with the desk job thing. I've always wanted to be a teacher, but I know my passion for beauty/fashion is just as strong! I'm doing what iiiiii want to do, and that's most important!
